Bobby Humphreys, 48, from Boonsboro, Maryland, was devastated when, on New Year’s Eve 2019, his ex-wife left him for someone else.
The sudden end of their relationship, combined with her blaming him for everything, pushed Bobby into a deep depression.
Unable to understand what went wrong, he lost all faith in humanity and reached a point where he considered ending his life. But one person, Connie, helped him through the darkest time. She refused to leave his side, reminding him how important he was.
After Bobby pulled through, he was still struggling, and Connie stepped in again. She needed someone to temporarily care for her son’s dog, Lady, as she was between homes.
Bobby agreed, despite being warned that Lady didn’t like men. He placed the dog in a kennel, but within 15 minutes, he couldn’t bear seeing her locked up. He let her out, and their bond began to heal Bobby’s heart.
